The Port of Rotterdam Authority strengthens the port’s competitive position as a logistics hub and industrial complex of world standing. Not only in terms of size, but also quality. The Port Authority’s core tasks are the sustainable development, management and operation of the port and the continued smooth and safe handling of vessel traffic.
 
On the basis of the core tasks, the Port Authority focuses on the future, together with its customers and business partners. The mission is: ‘The Port of Rotterdam Authority is developing, in partnership, the European world-class port’. The main partners are the companies which operate from the port. The Port Authority is a public corporation (N.V.) with two shareholders: the municipality of Rotterdam and the Dutch State. The Port Authority aims to attract companies which can strengthen the port and industrial area. The main focus here is on container handling, the chemical industry and energy.
