The Rotterdam Central Library offers an extensive collection of books, national and international newspapers, magazines, periodicals, CD-ROMs, audio cassettes, DVDs, sheet music, slides and video programmes to meet all your needs for information and entertainment. Over one million books are available, some of which are very old and valuable.
In addition, the institution has established partnerships with other organizations, including a library theatre, a restaurant and the Central Recording Collection, which is justly proud of its collection of over 250,000 CDs and 300,000 LPs.
You can consult the library catalogue at will by using the computers located on all floors. Up-to-date information is available on-line, on CD-ROM. The website of the central library also gives access to other national and international libraries. Use of the library as an information and documentation centre is free of charge as is the consulting of books, magazines, the internet and other material. If you wish to actually borrow one of the items, you must first register as a library member.
