For visits to the Netherlands for business or as a tourist for a period shorter than three months, there are special regulations concerning visa-duty. Nationals from most countries with a trade relationship with the Netherlands are exempted from visa-duty. These include:

Passport

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • Malaysia
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • United States

This also applies for most EU-countries and most South and Central American countries. There is an extended list of visa-duty countries which is subject to change every three months. Foreigners who are exempt from visa-duty are nevertheless required to have a valid passport and health insurance covering all risks in the Netherlands.

Application for visa
You can apply for a visa at the Embassy or Consulate of the Netherlands in your home country. You must request a visa in person and are required to present a passport and a letter of invitation from the company in the Netherlands, stating your name and birth date, the purpose of your visit, your passport number, a description of the relation between you and the company and a financial guarantee.
