An overview of restaurants can be found on iens.nl or in the booklet “Rotterdam culinair”. This brochure is available at the VVV. In many restaurants it is advisable to make advance reservations. As from 1 July 2008 it is overall prohibited to smoke.
Most shops in the city centre of Rotterdam are open on:

Outside the city centre most shops are closed on Sundays. Many supermarkets are open until 20:00 on weekdays. In Rozenburg, Schiedam and Spijkenisse the late shopping (until 21:00) is on Thursdays. In addition to normal shopping hours, some evening shops are open until midnight and on Sundays.
Markets
If you like shopping at markets, Rotterdam is the place to be as it has over 13 market places. The market in the city centre is the largest with almost 500 stalls where you can purchase food, textile and second hand items. Most markets are open from 08:00-17:00.

Monday through Friday 09:00-16:00
On public holidays banks and most shops are closed. As you will probably know, the currency in the Netherlands is the Euro. Most shops and restaurants accept credit cards such as Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa or American Express.
