For further assistance and specific information you can turn to ACCESS, a non-profit volunteer organization which helps all newcomers to settle in the Netherlands.Their services are available to anyone speaking English and include the following:

  • a telephone or e-mail Helpline service, available for free information Monday through Friday 10:00 - 16:00. Whatever your question may be, they will help you in finding the answer
  • community education courses e.g. childbirth preparation, First Aid Training, a range of parenting workshops, communication skills and job hunting
  • referrals to a network of over 20 highly qualified, professional counsellors.

ACCESS offers several publications with answers to frequently asked questions:

  • the 16-month “Information Calendar” which contains important information for new arrivals, useful telephone numbers and general information
  • “ACCESS Guide to Health Care in The Netherlands” concisely presents a wide range of health-related topics in a user-friendly guide. It includes practical information about the Dutch Health Care system
  • “ACCESS Guide to having and caring for children in The Netherlands” provides comprehensive information for those planning to have or are raising a child
  • “ACCESS Guide to Working in The Netherlands” is a step-by-step guide to finding employment
  • a range of fact sheets including: Starting your own Business, International Schools, Childcare and Playgroups (0 - 12 years), Dutch classes in The Netherlands, Obtaining a Driving License in The Netherlands.
