Rotterdam is constantly expanding; the city is developing in several directions. At the same time, the economy is keeping in step and the constitution of the population is changing. Therefore views on how the economy and society should be developed are subject to change. Taking this into account, it is a big challenge for a municipal corporation to keep playing a major facilitating - and sometimes supervising - role. This is why the Municipal Executive has commissioned the Rotterdam Development Corporation to cooperate with commercial parties to ensure a strong economic and spatial development of Rotterdam.
